Gloucestershire: Prinknash Abbey

Prinknash Abbey is a Benedictine monastery near the village of Cranham in Gloucestershire. The abbey was build in 1520 only to be disbanded by Henry VIII 19 years later. In 1928 the abbey was given to the Benedictine monks of Caldey Island and returned to it's original use :-)

This is a really lovely photo. It really conveys that feeling of a balmy, sunny, English summer day.

I love buildings like this. I think they can only be found in your part of the world.
