Mystery Macro 4 (Artichoke)

mystery macro photo

Last week I asked if anyone can identify a macro picture taken recently. :-) Correct guesses were kept in the moderation queue to allow everyone chance to guess.

Congratulations to Sandee and Retrophile who guessed the stamen of a flower. The flower is on an artichoke in the gardens of Chatsworth House :-)

I'll guess that this is some sort of fungus. I've seen a few that resemble this.

oh gosh, this is so hard! it looks like those sea creatures from under the sea. But on second thought, wt macro, it cud be anything. Rug?

Well it looks very botanical but despite the irregular length of cilia I'm guessing that it's man made so I'm going for some form of brush (not tooth) or fabric (not Velcro).

Fungus?

Some fantastic guesses, but it's not a fungus, anemone, rug, brush or fabric :-)

Clue: it's not man made...

I think it's a middle of a flower. Staymen or filament of a flower? Just my two cents.

Have a terrific day. :)

Hairs on a peach?

No right answer yet?
I trust that it is a commonly visible object and not some internal body part; also that the colour and lighting is natural so I'll try again :)
De-pollinated stamen from some type of flower?
