The small island of Hobthrush or Saint Cuthbert's Isle lies just off the coast of Lindisfarne. Saint Cuthbert lived here as a hermit before seeking solitude on Inner Farne.
Wonderful capture John. I have to agree with Interesting Pictures. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the cross was the crusades or the Knight's Templar. Amazing how these islands have such a story to tell.

i don't know anything about those real people, but my mother had a cousin named cuthbert
Is the large hump a structure? Is the cross a memorial? It seems to be a very small island to be able to sustain St. Cuthbert for very long.
A lone cross in the middle on an isolated island. Interesting composition.
He lived here BEFORE seeking solitude!!
I would love to live as a hermit on an island like that and just read and watch Charmed reruns. For a week maybe, until I return to my beloved London.

I like solitude, but maybe not that much. I'd make sure I had a boat readily available.
