Coquet Island is located off the Northumberland coast, but landing is strictly forbidden to protect the seabird colonies. The island is home to the medieval ruins of Saint Henry the Dane's hermitage which have been incorporated into the Victorian lighthouse.

It does seem that a lot of the saints were hermits, doesn't it? Lovely picture.
@Emma
You are sooo right. Although I would be too if I lived on a island like this.
so much history! very interesting
What a fabulous place..I would love to go close and take photography there!
It looks quite bleak but I should imagine it was the kind of place that at one time allowed someone very deep thought.
I could learn to love living on a place like that, if I could leave every once in awhile. I'm a bit of a hermit myself.
