How strange that we were both in Whitby a week or so apart! We plan to go back up to that part of the world soon but we'll be catching a train up from London and going via York and Newcastle.
Did you count the steps up to the Abbey? I have tried several times but always miss at least one.

Trev: I tried but somehow lost count. I also tried to hop all the way up (as suggested on the ghost walk) but it was too crowded to make it :-(
Makes me ill to think that Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries and Cromwell had this place destroyed. Grrr.
