Emperor Constantine

Emperor Constantine, York

A statue of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great sit outside York Minster with a broken sword. The inscription reads Constantine by this sign conquer.

Hmmm, I've been reading a bit about how awful the Romans truly were in England (go Boudica!). I wonder when this statue was built?

I really love York - it is magical. Then again, I've been to very few places in England that weren't magical, to be honest.
